Greetings friends!
You are now part of the gorgeous, gorgeous crop of grape juice enthusiasts subscribed to our new(ish) newsletter UNRULY.
Some of you are familiar with the newsletter of Rebel Rebel’s past. Launched during the throes of the pandemic, those missives ranged from heavy-hitting, long form journalism to roundups of good wine writing to the most recent iteration, which has mostly been Lauren sending out urgent reminders about upcoming events. After a year or so of failed attempts to bring this little space back to its former glory, we’ve finally refocused our energy and look forward to weekly installments as a way to bridge the gap between us, other folks in the food and beverage industry, and you.
What can you expect from the new Unruly newsletter?
This week, we have our monthly event roundup featuring visits from Matthew Rorick, Josefa Concannon + Mark Lindzy, as well as a screening of the award-winning documentary Living Wine. We’re offering a few of Lauren’s favorite travel-inspired recipes, and we have interviews with our winemaker pals at Floral Terranes and Margins Wine. Christian and Marie-Louise created some pretty epic playlists, and there’s a podcast episode with Aaron Ayscough, recommended reading from the world of wine and feminist food, and a lot of other vibe-y things we think you’d dig (plus video!).
Some of those offerings are free, and some are for paid subscribers (just over here reminding ourselves all this work has value). For those who choose to pay for the subscription, you’ll also get access to virtual classes with Lauren, early access to events and merch, and the opportunity to join the Unruly community via regular chats/discourse/gossip with us in Substack chat. Founding members will also be invited to an annual supper club hosted by us.
Lauren also spent some time spinning up a reintroduction entitled, “Why Bother?” in case you’re wondering the very same.
You can opt in and out of the content you’ll receive in your inbox. Plus, our entire archive of goods will live on the landing site. We’re excited to go on this journey with you, and—as always—thanks for riding the ride with us.
XOXO
