Hello, all!
Lots to tell you about this week. Let’s get to it.
WINE SCHOOL
First, we’re hosting Superbien-at-large for a class tomorrow night at Wild Child! The Future of South American Wine is being taught by none other than Rebel’s former Wine Director, Maia Fleming! And, because you’re you/a newsletter subscriber, you’re getting 10% off tickets! Maia’s been consulting for Superbien since she left the bar, and she’s incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to the nuances of South America’s wine heritage. Come hang with us, see Maia, and support Superbien! Get tix here!
WINEMAKERS!
We have a few winemakers headed our way for some special events + appearances!
Next week, on Tuesday 4/29, Rosalind Reynolds of Emme Wines joins us for a board takeover at Rebel Rebel! If you’ve been here for a bit, you know that we sweat Rosalind’s wines hard. Her approach to capturing unique expressions of California terroir is nuanced and thoughtful, and her wines are extremely well-crafted—a relative young gun, she’s one to watch for sure. Come out any time to meet her and taste through her recent spring releases—these are new arrivals that we haven’t had in-house before, so even if you’re already a fan, there will be shiny new things to try! The party goes all night, and there are NO TIX REQUIRED!
And on Wednesday, 5/14, we have the distinct honor of welcoming winemaker Brianne Day, of namesake Day Wines, for a casual hang and special Spring menu at Dear Annie! We’ve worked with Brianne for years, and her inspired Oregon cuvées keep us going back for more. She’ll be taking over our glass pours and being her kind and elegant self, and Chef Junior is creating an a la carte menu PNW-inspired Spring dishes to pair with. As this isn’t a formal wine dinner, no special tickets are necessary, but do make a reservation!
Finally, on Thursday, 5/15, winemaker Chris Brockway, of Broc Cellars, is joining us for a free tasting at Wild Child! If you’ve never met Chris, he is an exceptionally kind and thoughtful guy, and he knows so much about California terroir. A human tome, if you will. This will be his first visit with us since taking over the historic Fox Hill Vineyard, so we’re really excited to pick his brain! We also managed to get our hands on a few cuvées that don’t typically make it out of his tasting room, so mark those calendars, pals! Exact time TBD, but it will at least be from 5-7, if not a little later. Again, it’s a free tasting and an open-house format, so no tix required!
OTHER EVENTS!
This Sunday 4/27! PAELLA NIGHT returns to Dear Annie! An all-Spanish fine + rare BTG lineup! Porrón! Big pans of seafood paella! AND it looks like the weather has decided to bring the vibes. Make a reservation!
(P.S. It was brought to my attention recently that folks aren’t aware that Dear Annie’s menu is both pescatarian and organic! So! Here’s your reminder!)
Also at Dear Annie: our last Queer Trivia event popped off! So we’re running it back! Sunday, May 11th, join our gorgeous + captivating emcee, Pearl, for an hour of competitive queerness! Then stay for dinner. Get your tix here!
Our next Mobilize Monday action at Rebel Rebel is a meet-and-greet with On The Rise, a local nonprofit committed to assisting our unhoused community. This is an opportunity to meet and chat with a representative from OTR and learn more about how you can get involved! Sign up here.
