Heavy Rotation: Dinner Party on the Porch
Y'all feel that warmth in the air? Let's get into the most sumptuous season together.
There are more 60+ degree days headed our way in the next few weeks, which calls for communing with friends over wine and extravagant crostinis.

What We’re Eating:
I’ve thrown enough dinner parties in my day and know that the simple idea of inviting friends over for a meal can turn into an expensive affair. I started using dinner parties as a pantry challenge for myself by using up produce that’s going bad or items that have been sitting on the shelves waiting for their chance to shine. I’m an avid dry bean collector, specifically Rancho Gordo beans (I’ve been told my section of the pantry looks like a mini Formaggio Kitchen. I’m simply trying to get in that bean club). Partial to any mix of black beans, I cook those with the usual suspects of onions, garlic, salt, pepper and whatever other savory spices I have on hand. Mix them with the hard cheese that’s been sitting in the fridge, like parm or pecorino, and tons of fresh cracked black pepper. It’s sort of taste like a cool pasta and can be made in big batches. Unfreeze the sourdough in the fridge for dipping. Easy! Add hearty greens or grab a handful of the wilted herbs that have seen better days.
