Hey babes,
How’s your heart?
Mine’s hurting. For all the reasons. It’s a weird time to be trying to do anything, let alone writing newsletters that don’t acknowledge the gnawing, gaping, unknowable pain rocking the world right now. I don’t have much more to say than that. I think sometimes it’s just good to say it out loud. This is all really hard, and really strange.
And yet, I have businesses to operate, and part of what helps them operate is telling y’all about what’s happening, via this newsletter. So, I’m gonna do that. Here I go:
This Friday, from 5-7, come hang out with me at Dear Annie. This is not an “event.” I’ll be there. I’ll be opening a few of my favorite bottles and walking around and pouring tastes and glasses to whoever’s around. I’ll be chitchatting about wine and life and music and whatever. It’ll be like coming to a party at my house. Some splashes will be offered for free, some will be available for purchase by the glass. Junior saved a few sea dogs to offer up. It’s going to be very chill and very much what my heart needs—I don’t have a dining room at home and I do have an urge to spread some love. Walk in or make a reservation if you want a sure thing. We’ll be in regular service, so you can also order from the menu and ignore me if you want. The wine will be good and not anything you can find anywhere else, I can promise that. Hope I’ll see you.

Also, the 9th Curated Vintage Market is this Sunday 10/13 at Bow Market. From noon ‘til 8PM, shop 80+ local vintage vendors in Bow Market and along Somerville Ave in Union Square. From home décor to clothing (hello, denim!) to jewelry to vinyl to art, every team member has run out from behind the bar at Rebel to spend too much money at this dang market, and we shall continue to do so. Come grab a glass from us and shop literally thousands of finds. Good for the planet, good for the local economy, good for the soul.
And, we still have a few tickets left for our class this Sunday with Shannon of Highland Butcher Shop. This class is all about helping you feel confident entertaining this holiday season. Shannon will talk about how to tie different meats—chicken! roasts!—along with unique cuts you can use to feed a crowd (not your average options!) and all final touches to make an impression without making you stressed. A glass of wine is included with your ticket.
This is a hands-on class. For both sanitary and sustainability reasons, we will NOT be practicing on raw meat. However, there will be raw meat present for demonstrations.
Dear Annie opens for service immediately following the event, and we’d love you to stay for dinner with us after class!
ONE MORE THING
I was reminded of this beloved little tune earlier today. It’s a perfect fall song. It’s a little hug. Enjoy.
AND REMEMBER.
Rosé for Resistance is on all month long. 100% of rosé BTG sales at Rebel Rebel and Dear Annie will be donated to MAMAS and The Fairness Project. We can’t fix everything, but we can do something. Come by.
AND FINALLY.
I’m happy to say, Wild Child will be open soon. Getting this project off the ground has truly been one of the most outrageous experiences, but I’m so happy we’re finally here. Our team has rocked, rolled, and honestly been beyond extraordinary throughout this whole process, and I’m just real proud of them. So. That’s all. That’s the tweet.
Lots of love. Take care of each other.
XOXO,
L
